About Us

The EP is a Brent Council led partnership of business support agencies, Town Centre Managers, the Job Centre Plus, business training providers, and representatives from the business community to promote and develop economic growth within the London Borough of Brent. The EP was set up in 2003 through the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund Programme in Harlesden to work with local businesses in sourcing work placements and vacancies for the area’s unemployed residents. The EP helped facilitate local businesses working closer with the local community to promote inclusion and improve their positive impact on the community.

Whilst this remains an aim of the EP, the EP is developing and diversifying it’s role so that it can be an effective interface in coordinating and simplifying engagement with businesses on this and a much wider range of issues. By bringing together partners with a common interest to see business activity succeed in the area, the partnership approach taken by the EP ensures that engagement with businesses is collaborative and thus avoids a cluttered environment of different organisations and agencies engaging the same employers with the same or irrelevant services.
Conversely through the Partnership, business themselves have one key route into the Council and the various support services available to them through it’s partners and having that information on one platform rather than spread.

The key objectives of the EP are to:
  • Ingrain the importance of collaborative working using the EP as a tool to bring together and network with members from the statutory, business, and community & voluntary sector

  • Ensure the EP is a two way commitment, maximising benefits to the local community with improved access to employment, and to the businesses through opportunities to understand and be aware of support available from the local council and other support organisations

  • Represent the private sector at the Local Strategic Partnership, through the EP Chair, building strong strategic links into this body

The EP is first and foremost a Brent initiative which seeks to help businesses and entrepreneurs in the borough. However the EP recognises that it operates in the West London region and will offer support to businesses from the area if requested and ensure work undertaken takes into account this local context.
