The Business Agenda – held on Tuesday 4th March 2008
Brent Council recently held a business forum event ‘The Business Agenda’ together with the Employer Partnership, to inform local businesses about the ambitious regeneration projects taking place in Brent and how local businesses can engage to benefit from these and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The event held at the Advait Centre on Tuesday 4th March, was opened by the Leader of the Council Cllr Paul Lorber, who provided an overview of the regeneration of Wembley, which will result in the area becoming a new national and international destination and a key contributor to the London economy.
A presentation from Wembley Stadium Ltd praised partnership working with the council which has enabled local residents to benefit from training and employment opportunities from the national stadium.
The event also launched the rejuvenated Employer Partnership, Brent Council’s employer engagement initiative, which works with the borough’s businesses and employers. The initiative encourages and supports economic growth to bring benefits for local businesses and the community. The Chair of the Employer Partnership Vijay Amin, discussed the importance of working collaboratively and strategically to ensure Brent provides the best possible environment for business growth.
London Business Network gave a presentation on how businesses can access business opportunities from the London 2012 Games and Paralympic Games through the recently launched CompeteFor website.
The presentation highlighted that businesses in Brent could benefit from the many procurement opportunities available from the London Games, particularly through the extensive supply chains.
