Welcome to this quarter’s Brent Business News, produced by Brent Council’s Employer Partnership to provide businesses with information to help support business growth and continuity.

This edition explores how the current economic downturn is likely to impact business activity in the borough and which industries are likely to be hit hardest by the recession. Market intelligence from economic consultants Gavurin explain what this could mean for businesses but also business related activity in the borough.

There’s also lots of useful information about how you can protect your business from the worst effects of the recession and other risks that may jeopardise your businesses productivity.               

On a final note our next Business Breakfast Event is being held on Tuesday 13 January 2009 at the Wembley Plaza Hotel from 8:15am to 10:50am. Speakers include many of the contributors in this edition of the newsletter including the Federation of Small Businesses, Gavurin, and Brent Council’s finance department.

Will the council's budget decisions for 2009/10 affect you?

Brent Council will be making its budget decisions for 2009/10 over the next few months, with final decisions being taken by councillors at their meeting on 2nd March 2009.  In the lead up to these decisions being made, the council is keen to get the views of businesses on the issues that will be decided.
